@ WingCommander,
You are right about that! You and I are about the same age. Growing up in the 1980's and early 1990's, there was NO WAY that I would get old. Well, I'm settling into my 40's. While not old, I am older than I thought I would ever get.

Are there any new ideas coming from the Watchtower Society?

What happened to Catholic church bashing.
by Hellothere ini remember back in the 80s almost every awake and watchtower magazine, think all, hade an article about how bad and evil catholic church was.
what happened to all the bashing?
was it because people in catholic countries got offended?

Have you ever been on a congregation picnic?
by LostintheFog1999 inwere you ever on a congregation picnic?
i was on several occasions.. the arrangements were often announced from the platform after the closing song and prayer by the last elder up on the platform.. sometimes it was included in the service meeting announcements as "on saturday we're meeting at 10.00am at the kingdom hall for field service, and after field service for anyone who wishes, especially for the younger ones, we will be having a congregation picnic meeting at the beach carpark on seaview road.".
well, according to the new elders manual you won't be hearing those words again.

Growing up in Pennsylvania, I remember going to congregational picnics all the way up through the 1990's. They were fun. So the Org did what the Org usually does: eliminate activities that bring the flock too much fun.

Struggling to find a purpose
by My Name is of No Consequence ini spent most of my life in the org.
we were taught that our purpose in life was to serve jehovah.
that never really made sense to me, but it was still a purpose to keep going.

I appreciate everyone's input and viewpoints. I never really thought about a "purpose" until after I escaped the org's sphere of influence and got divorced. I remember sitting in my easy chair not too long after my (ex)wife and stepson moved out. That's then I really began to wonder about purpose, getting older, happiness, etc.

I spent most of my life in the org. We were taught that our purpose in life was to serve Jehovah. That never really made sense to me, but it was still a purpose to keep going. I’m not disfellowshipped (at least I don’t think I am), but I have not been to a meeting since 2015ish. I’m now divorced, a large part of that had to do with me waking up. Since then, I’ve really struggled to find a purpose. My purpose is obviously not to “serve god”. I don’t even have a family to take care of. At least when I was married, I could say that my purpose was to take care of my wife and stepson. I have a decent job and have made a fairly comfortable living. But having a god job and living comfortably isn’t a purpose. Now that I’ve entered middle age, I’ve been thinking about this a lot and have been doing a lot of reflection on my life up to this point.
Has anyone else felt this way? What have you done, or am doing, about it?

peacefulpete,
My collection is probably 40% Canadian coins. Although I'm an American, I think that Canadian coins are prettier and their designs have more thought and purpose behind them. 30% of my collection consists of U.S coins. The rest are mostly a conglomerate of Central American, British, Australian and South Pacific coins.
